Stychen Tyme  Quilt and Yarn  Shop

Romy Quackenbush

Romy and Ken Quackenbush had regularly visited the Jasper area and were looking for somewhere to both raise their three kids and for Romy to start her own business; Jasper provided the perfect opportunity for both. In January 2000 the family moved and in October Romy opened Stychen Tyme.

Romy studied at the University of Manitoba graduating with a Minor in clothing and textiles but her love of handicrafts began long before.  She started knitting at the age of seven and spent time while attending high school working in different sewing and knitting shops. Owning her own creative business was something Romy always wanted to do and recommends first working in the type of business you want to own.

“I want people to come in and say I want to do this”, she focuses on and is known for specializing in unique and locally designed patterns, including Canadian Designers and Sue Coleman cross stitching patterns. Romy also designs her own patterns under the Stychen Tyme Designs label and supplies kits for both knitting and quilting, some of which are displayed throughout the shop.

New Additions to the shop include an extensive fibre arts selection for landscape quilting and collage work and this website providing customers with worldwide shopping access taking the creative spirit global!
